More than 350 000 electronically OMRON meters has been sold today in Sweden, mainly to hospitals.
When blood pressure is taken with electronical meters there is a risk for wrong readings when the cuff is placed to tight on the arm. It is important that two fingers can be placed under the cuff right by the bend of the arm and the arm must be held perfectly still. It is equally important that the arm is held still when measuring by the hand. When measuring by the hand wrist it is also needed that the hand is held in the same level as the heart, so that you get the pressure. A certain time for adjustment is also recommendable. The most important thing to remember is to rest for about 10 minuets before taking the blood pressure.
To every meter there is a detailed operating instruction that also gives a number of reason to high blood pressure.
